Review by hotel critic
The Prince Alfred offers a decent balance of convenience and comfort, making it a sensible choice for those exploring the area. My room, while facing the street, was remarkably quiet thanks to effective glazing – a real plus given the hustle and bustle typically found nearby. The spaciousness of the room and cleanliness of the two bathrooms were appreciated, with ironing facilities and free Wi-Fi adding to the overall utility. While the hospitality was commendable, Ann’s welcome call was a welcome touch, though I didn’t have the chance to meet her in person. That said, the breakfast situation is somewhat confusing; the website lists it as a B&B, yet breakfast is served either at the restaurant below or at a location 100m away. I found this to be misguiding and ultimately missed out on breakfast altogether. Location-wise, the Prince Alfred is perfectly situated for quick access to various amenities and attractions. I’d recommend that prospective guests budget wisely, as the value-for-money proposition could be clearer concerning breakfast and dining arrangements. It’s a reliable choice with thoughtful considerations but requires a bit of clarity regarding what is included in the stay.
